![]() Bodega Bay Perfect Love Love Is True Let There Be God Only Knows (What We Need) Bodega Bay >>> The story on Bodega Bay is that the words come from the writings of Ken Mansfield in his book, "The Beatles, The Bible, and Bodega Bay" Scott and Jim were the primary composers. Scott Standeford's bass work and Randy Harmon's drumming on the track are their own composition. By Rock Prophets / copyright 2000 On a stormy night in my room, the Word of God is swirling inside my head Trouble's brewing in Bodega Bay, and trouble in my heart I don't understand Whoa Whoa hoo Whoa Whoa In the middle of the muddle, God begins to meddle with my motivations He's the way but He's in my way, when I'm trying to go my own direction Whoa Whoa hoo Whoa Whoa God's ways are not my ways, I go crazy tryin' to figure it out. His simple truth will guide my heart "Believe on Me", "Trust in Me" and all is possible. I pray and beg for some conviction, some word to help me out of my condition But when I heard His revelation, I ran for cover in the wilds... Your ways are not my ways, I go crazy tryin' to figure it out. His simple truth will guide my heart "Believe on Me", "Trust in Me" and all is possible. The sun is shining through my window And the Son of God shows me forgiveness His gentle mercy washes over me Like the waves upon the shore... Whoa Whoa hoo Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa hoo Whoa Whoa (Bodega Bay) -- Perfect Love >>> Perfect Love is another Tyring/Brunner collaboration. It started as a G7+4 riff that was inspired by the Beatles "I Feel Fine". The song is sort of a fusion of Beatles styles from their early career. Jim's guitar solo is very "George Harrison" and Randy's drumming is Ringo-ish at spots. The lyrics simply cry for a Perfect Love which according to 1 John 4:18 "perfect love By Rock Prophets / copyright 2001 I will climb the highest mountain I will cross the raging sea I would do most anything For a perfect love for me I will follow your direction Let You drive, give You the keys I'll do anything for your perfect love You can tame the beast within me You can free me from the cage You're the Author of all Life I will let you turn the page I'll do anything for your perfect love I would do anything Give my body to the flame Anything for Your perfect Love I will follow Your commandment Love each other as You love I will heed Your Holy Spirit Lead me gently as a dove I'll do anything for your perfect love I'll do anything for your perfect love I'll do anything for your perfect love -- Love Is True >>> Scott Standeford (x-bassist) wanted to write a love song to his wife Darlene. He began with the really cool C#m7 and Bm7 riff and the song kind of took off one night in Scott Tyring's living room. Tyring penned a bridge section and Jim Brunner made some chord enhancements. The song displays Standeford's Country and Western roots while standing as a strong pop ballad. The basic message of the song is that the faithful love of others can bring us to knowledge of the faithful love of God. by Rock Prophets / Copyright 2001 Call my name Things will never be the same Since you came into my life Loving you That's all I ever wanna do Since you came into my life I don't know if I ever wanna let you go When I'm with you I feel brand new I used to say love will never come my way Love is True since I met you He Called my name Things will never be the same Since He came into my life His Love is true And I just wanna share it with you Since He came into my life I want you to know His love will never let you go When God's with you, you feel brand new And I wanna say love is gonna come your way Love is True. He died for you I can't explain, but I see God when I look at you You took my heart and filled the empty spaces Between you and me there's a love that's heaven sent I'm closer to God because you've been so good to me -- Let There Be >>> Let There Be is the first song written for "Living Stones - Not For Sale" CD by Scott Tyring. Jim Brunner and he struggled with the lyrics and Tyring's original minor key. Brunner was concerned that the song might be a "downer" because of its dark images. Tyring desired to share the hope of a God who speaks a creative Word into darkness and Nothingness and brings forth Light and Life through Love. "The same word that created the universe recreates my heart." The end result is a somber lyric and "saucey" sound that explodes into confident prayer for God to act again to bring light, life and love. by Rock Prophets / copyright 2000 Out of the darkness and abysmal deep Comes a cry, a call, the Shepherd's keep. A presence eternal and pure hovers near Time means nothing, Time means nothing And Nothing is what began to be in time In time with the march, with the beat of the heart Of the One who speaks the Word of Command... A voice cries out of the desert wastes "Make a straight way, Make a straight way!" Out the crookedness of human life Out of the Darkness...(Let There Be) Out of the Nothing...(Let There Be) Where there was not...(Let There Be) Where there was not...(Let There Be) A Light, A Life, A Love Out of the chaos, oppression and pain A creature of the Nothing given grace to taste Making a living. What are livings for? When life mean nothing, life means nothing. And Nothing is what was given the Life In Eternity's Peace comes the Word Word spoken to start the Time Woman bears Life to the World Spirit gives Life to the World For God so loved the World that He gave... A Light, A Life, A Love...(Let There Be) (x4) A Light, A Life, A Love... Out of the darkness of my abysmal life I heard a cry, a call...a halted knife A presence without beginning or end Calls to me, calling me a friend I worship, I move, I cry And join The Voice of the sky -- God Only Knows (What We Need) >>> This song was written in 1999 before any Rock Prophets existed. Jim Brunner is Scott Tyring's guitar teacher and the two of them wrote this song as a folk rock number. Jim wrote the verses. Scott wrote the chorus. It was inspired by a sermon Scott wrote about Jesus' calling of the disciples in John's gospel. They approach Jesus and he asked them "what are you looking for?" Later, after the resurrection, the Risen Lord Jesus asks Mary Magdalene, "whom do you seek?" The good news is that Jesus knows that when the disciples come to Him, they are worldly. They seek things, but after they know Him to be the Christ, The Lord of all, they seek a person. They seek a savior. By Rock Prophets / copyright 1999 God only knows what we're looking for God only knows what we need He is the way, the truth, and the light Living in Him, we succeed He is the One that we're looking for He is the One that will take us home to glory God only knows what we're looking for God only knows what we need Down on your life Nowhere to turn Look to yourself The answer's there Pick a quiet place Say a prayerful plea The Father lives in you when you open up your heart What'ya looking for? Whom do you seek? You've traveled many miles to find that He was always the Remain in Him And He'll remain in you The Father lives in you if you open up your heart |
