Scott
Tyring - Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Born: 6/1/62 Evansville, Indiana Scott Tyring has been in several choirs, singing in school, college and seminary. While in High School ('76-80), the height of the Disco Era, Tyring formed a satirical Punk Rock Band called "The Kamodz" (like cammodes). Tyring was lead singer and songwriter for the group. Tyring attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana majoring in Chemical Engineering. His freshman year, Tyring learned to play guitar by borrowing an acoustic Yamaha guitar from a dorm mate, who patiently showed him the basics. He performed as a singer/songwriter occasionally from 1980-1990 writing many songs in that period. Tyring's career as an Engineer and his young family (Married 1986, 2 girls, 1 boy) caused him to lay aside his guitar for a few years. He still found time to organize a comedy troupe called Cuckoo's Nest in the early 1990's (Noblesville, Indiana) in which his specialty was writing/performing comedic songs, skits and song parodies. Favorites of the crowd were "Thank God I'm a Corporate Boy" and "I Wanna Meet the Girl on Your Mudflap." In 1994 Tyring made a career change (and lifestyle change) in answer to a call from God to enter into the ordained ministry. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1998. Tyring, now an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church formed Rock Prophets to lead alternative worship events and rallies where they could share the message of Christ. Mike Mattei- Lead, Rhythm, and Acoustic Guitars- Vocals Born: 8/1/62 Raritan N.J. Mike lives in Avon with his Wife Jamie and his 3 Children Matt, Logan and Gia. He began playing churches when he was in 8th grade just starting out on guitar. It grew to become a passion for him. He’s played in Bands for several years growing up in New Jersey. He went to Bridgewater-High West and graduated with the awesome class of 80’. At least we thought we were. Several years later he started a band in his parents garage called the ‘Zappers’. We played all the greatest hits from that time. One summer we decided to go on vacation together to Florida, well that’s all it took and we found ourselves playing in clubs in the Sunshine State. We were living Large! Well things fell apart about a year and a half later and with most of the members going back to New Jersey I decided to stay with my best friend still today Bruno Trapani. With no family to help out we decided to move Indiana. Yes, me a East coast boy living in Indiana, I really would of never guest that in a Million years. Anyway I think I adjusted pretty well and feel I’m at home here. With finding a home church at Kingsway we feel were being fed what we need daily. In 2000 I entered a Classic Rock Band and was on my way to Rock-n-Roll again. It lasted 2 years this time. Well with all that coming to a close I really didn’t know what I was going to do musically till I walked in a Music store in Avon and saw this flyer hanging in the classified section. It had a picture of 4 guys faces like a mug shot. (Only Kidding) It read, looking for a lead Guitar player for a Christian Rock Band. Well I thought about it for a while, till that night I was standing in line at Olive garden when I felt the Spirit Of God come upon me enough that I called from the restaurant to the music store to get the phone number. Well the next day I called Scott Trying and we talked for an hour. We ended our conversation with a prayer and a good feeling something great was about to happen. I auditioned a week later with an offer to join the band and I’ve never looked back. I think I’ve found what I was looking for and God new it the whole time. Praise Him! God has already Blessed this Band with several Opportunities to lead Worship along with nights of just having fun playing for him.
